About this work

Almost a month after being admitted to the critical care unit (ICU), I began to question what I was consuming each day, from never caring about nutrition or food ingredients to borrowing the language of the processed food industry from the PMGK series, creating a self-imagined brand with AI and The Soul's Journey to explore the cycle of desire from hunger to familiarity. The results do not determine whether processed food is good or bad, but question whether we are actually consuming food.or are consuming images, narratives and sentiments that are cleverly designed on the packaging

A life-threatening after got out the ICU, forced me to reconsider my relationship with food. For the first time, I began reading ingredient labels and INS codes, realizing that the most carefully designed part of processed food is often not the food itself, but its packaging. PMGK is a fictional brand that appropriates the visual language of the food industry through self-portrait photography, with AI to design The Soul's Journey to explore thecycle of desire from hunger and satisfaction to habit and emptiness. Rather than judging processed food, the project questions whether we consume food itself, or the carefully constructed images, narratives, and emotions wrapped around it.
