Fragments of a Sacred Roofline

Millionaire Fragments:
Reading the city through the details of temple architecture is a survey of 17 temples to the south of Chiang Mai city through a visual research process that uses photography as a tool to study the area, history, and identity of the community instead of capturing the entire temple. This series of photos selectively looks only at the “fragments” of architectural elements such as the end of the roof, the patterns, and the artisanal details that reflect the wisdom, beliefs, and beauty of the Lanna arts.All images are arranged from the relationship of shapes, lines, strokes, textures and spaces to invite the viewer to view architecture as a visual language rather than simply recognizing it as an archaeological site. The exhibition is about both interpreting the city through imagery and connecting art, research and cultural heritage to a new perspective on the historical district of contemporary Chiang Mai.


Lanna fragments:
Reading the City Through Fragments of Lanna Temple Architecture. Lanna fragments is a visual research project exploring seventeen temples in the southern quarter of Chiang Mai through photography as a method of investigating place, history, and cultural identity. Rather than documenting entire temple complexes, the project focuses on architectural fragments—roof finials, ornamental details, carved motifs, and structural forms. These seeminglysmall elements embody the craftsmanship, beliefs, and aesthetic traditions of Lanna culture. The photographs are sequenced according to visual relationships of line, rhythm, texture, form, and negative space, inviting viewers to experience temple architecture as a visual language rather than simply as historical monuments. This exhibition presents photography as both artistic expression and research practice, offering an alternative way ofreading the historic city through fragments that reveal the enduring dialogue between architecture, memory, craftsmanship, and place
