Urban Symbiosis

Nature is constantly growing and adapting for survival, whether it is branching, expanding stems or taking root. These processes reflect the ability to respond to the environment as well as the relationship between nature and the city. Although cities are primarily built to meet human life, nature continues to grow through inserting hookups and adapting growth patterns to the constraints of man-made spaces.As a result, trees form shapes, shapes, and structures that are fused with the architecture and buildings around them to become part of the urban landscape.
This photographic series presents the shape, form and structure of trees formed by adapting to their environment to reflect the relationship between “natural growth” and “man-made urban environments” that co-exist and influence each other within the same space.


Nature grows through freely continuous adaptation. As cities are built primarily for human activity, trees persist by penetrating, attaching to, and reshaping their growth in response to the constraints of the urban environment. Their forms gradually become intertwined with the architecture and infrastructure that surrounds them.
