About this work
For this series of portrait photographs, it is my strong intention to present works devoid of a fixed conceptual framework, I desire to allow the photograph to communicate on its own and give the viewer the freedom to interpret the meaning according to their point of view and personal experience.
In the midst of a determined schooling atmosphere, my friends around me chose to convey stories through various aspects of the "human" portrait, but I was attracted by the raw charm and eyes filled with the story of the "ape", a creature that seemed similar but completely different from us.
The decision to choose these three images of apes — whether it was a prudent ape holding a cigarette, an ape in a majestic pose, or an ape holding up the number 8 tag — was made in response to instinct and feeling. At that moment, I could see the beauty, complexity, and emotion that flowed from these photos without finding any explanation.
As a reflection of my journey of discovering and presenting my differences, I hope viewers will feel the energy and meaning hidden within these photos and join me in a world of limitless interpretation.
P.S. This was a portrait shoot, sending teachers, while the whole class was focused on "people, people, people, people", everyone was succumbing to the human image, but I pushed myself out of orbit to grab the monkey's life and put it in the frame, and that would be the only reason why this series of images no longer needed any explanation.
