The body of work originated from a desire to communicate the enduring beauty of Chiang Mai’s antiquity. I chose to focus on the city’s ancient architecture, which reflects a strength and resilience that persists against the tide of time. I utilized the natural light of the afternoon to emphasize the vivid blue sky of the approaching fine winter, creating contrast that enhance the prominence of these venerable structures. The choice of shooting with 135 mm color film was deliberate; film photography is more than just a tool-it imbues the images with a distinct dimension of time and softness. The natural film grain acts as a whisper, narrating the long-standing memories embedded within the locations. Creating this series allowed me to realize the inherent value and beauty in our immediate surrounding, which we often overlook simply due to familiarity. It is my sincere hope that the viewer will similarly discover the profound aesthetic in the commonplace.
